Cultivated in Florida by the Native Americans since 1500’s. Stores for up to 1 year! Large vines grow fruits averaging 6″ in diameter. Bell shaped fruits go from green to cream color. Fruit is ready when vines start to brown and die. These are kind of like a cross between acorn and butternut squash, sweeter than butternut though. Disease resisitant, resistant to vine borers and most other pests in our area. High tolerance to heat and humidity. Not picky about soil or conditions. All that makes this a MUST have in Florida gardens! Needs ample water and room to roam.
