Description
Luffa aegyptiaca.
Introduced by Burpee in 1888. “A natural dishcloth and most admirable one!” I myself use it as a kitchen sponge and it is great! Also can use as exfoliator and more! Can eat when young thin and green. Stir fry or add in soups. Wait for it to dry on vine and sponge is ready when brown and seeds rattle.
Direct seed in hills 8 feet apart. 4 seeds per hill. Needs room to vine. Keep fruits off ground with supports or trellising. In Florida or similar climate plant in March and August. Full sun.
Ready 90 days
Average 20 seeds per pack.
