Temperature Guidelines:
Ideal Range: 55-75°F (13-24°C) for general growth.
Heat Stress (above 75°F/24°C): Can cause tip burn and bolting. Partial shade helps in warm weather.
Cold Tolerance: Can survive near-freezing temperatures (down to 27°F/-3°C) and even lower in unheated greenhouses, but harvest before plants freeze solid (around 25°F/-4°C).
Bolting Triggers: Inconsistent temperatures, especially prolonged warm spells or significant cold snaps during early growth, can cause it to flower.
Planting Times
Spring: Plant 2-3 weeks before the last frost.
Fall: Plant in late summer (August/September) after summer heat subsides for a great fall/winter harvest.
