Description
(Lens culinaris )
One of the earliest domesticated crops. Green lentils are the most nutritious of all the lentils. Lentils are a cool weather crop in the pea family. Direct seed or start in pots 4-6 weeks before planting out. Plant out early spring and late September-October in warm climates. Space 6-8” apart for good air flow on a low trellis. Plants grow 18-24” tall and produce small pods with 1-3 lentils in each. Harvest when brown and dry.
