Allium fistulosum

Non-bulbing long white type.  Mild and sweet.  I grow these year round in a pot out my back door since I eat them with everything!  Resistant to frost and light freeze.  Once established either cut off an inch above the root and it will re-grow or pull the whole thing and store the bottom with the roots for future planting.

Ready 65 days from seed

To store for later planting cut 1 inch above roots, trim roots to about 1 inch and store in refrigerator in paper towels.  It is okay if they dry out a little.  Should be fine for a few months.

I love these. I planted them on a whim in a little 4-pack on November 3, 2023 and put them under a cheap indoor grow light. Wasn’t expecting much but they sprouted in a day or two, and for a few weeks I had sprouts coming up daily. I put them in pots and they are still going three months later. They spent some time on a shelf by my porch that is sheltered from the rain when we had the weird winter weather, and they did just fine, but I have them in full sun now. I love green onion on everything and I used to buy them at the store but they wilt and go bad if I don’t use them in time. Now I have my favorite topping fresh whenever I want, and nothing is wasted.
