Why Choose Heirloom Seeds from Growin’ Crazy Acres?

At Growin’ Crazy Acres, heirloom seeds aren’t just something we sell—they’re something we grow, test, and stand behind.

Every variety in our catalog is personally hand-selected for Florida’s unique climate. That doesn’t mean they’ll only grow here—quite the opposite. Because these seeds are true heirlooms, they naturally adapt over time to different regions, soils, and growing conditions.

We grow in high heat and humidity, so our seeds are already acclimated to challenging environments. Many of the varieties we offer are grown seed to plant to seed right here at Growin’ Crazy Acres—harvested, saved, and grown again by our own hands. This process strengthens the seed stock and ensures consistency, resilience, and reliability.

Each packet is hand-packed, not machine-filled. That allows us to remove any seeds that don’t meet our standards. We also conduct small-batch germination testing to further ensure quality and performance.

For the few varieties we can’t produce in sufficient quantity ourselves, we source only from original heirloom sources or trusted local growers who meet the same high standards we hold for our own seeds.

If we haven’t grown it successfully ourselves, we don’t sell it. Period.

You Know Exactly What You're Getting

Unlike most seed companies that sell by weight, we clearly list the number of seeds per packet. No guessing. No vague measurements like “0.2 grams.” With our seeds, you know exactly how many you’re planting.

Why Heirloom Seeds Matter

Heirloom seeds are open-pollinated, non-hybrid, and non-GMO, meaning they grow naturally with their original traits intact. Because they haven’t been altered or modified, heirloom varieties are widely recognized for:

  • Superior flavor
  • Higher nutrient density
  • Stronger genetic diversity

When grown using organic methods, heirloom plants benefit from healthier soil biology. Adding organic matter helps rebuild minerals and micronutrients naturally, while avoiding synthetic fertilizers and herbicides prevents toxic runoff and long-term soil damage.

All of our seeds and plants are open-pollinated, which means you can save the seeds and they will grow true to type, just like the original plant.

Over time, as heirlooms are grown and saved in the same environment, they naturally adapt to local pests and diseases—building resilience season after season.
