Oregano vulgare is classified as the Italian oregano.  Oregano is a delicious culinary herb used in pasta sauce, pizza just to name a few.  This herb also has many medicinal qualities.  It is high in anti oxidants, anti inflammatory, cough suppressant, antimicrobial and rich in vitamins A, E, K and high in potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron.  Also used for wound healing.  I try to put herbs in almost everything I eat.  Grows all year in most places, very frost and heat tolerant.  Once established regular use or pruning is vital for full bushy plants.

    Sow only a few seeds per pot on top of soil, do not bury.  Grow in warm sunny spot and transplant when established to garden or raised bed after last frost.  Can also be direct seeded outdoors in garden beds after last frost.  Use fresh or dried.

    Notes

    Oregano is a perennial. Will come back season after season.

    In containers to keep it growing take out at the end of season break up roots, can divide and plant in new soil for more plants.
