Green Purslane (Portulaca)

$3.75

(Portulaca oleracea sativa )

This is the Wild Florida Purslane that I have been cultivating for years.  Smooth succulent green leaves with pink, sometimes yellow flowers.  All parts are edible and nutritious even the tiny seeds.  High in omega 3 fatty acid and vitamin C.  Said to lower cholesterol and more.  Grow in full sun in most any type of soil.  The tiny seeds spread easily so will reseed.  Loves the heat, but not frost or freeze.  I love snacking on it and in salads.  Direct seed or start in container to transplant after last frost.  Can start using when a few inches tall, and will continue to grow.  Perfect crop for the hottest months when nothing else will grow.
